The beginning of chapter seven of Culpable is one of the saddest paragraphs I have ever read in a novel, and a declaration of loyalty and dedication, despite Inma’s erroneous areas and her stigmata. An example of guilt and a romanticism that exceeds the understanding of mortals is the following sentence written by Rowland: I have never regretted kissing her, nor my tears or suffering and the pleasure she has taken from me. I have never cursed her for her hugs and the disorder of the sheets that covered our bodies and the dark superstition of a present already faded before the memories of old photographs.
